Introduction

Neurotoxin (Botox)

With the daily stresses of life, it is natural for our body to manifest its earned experience in the form of wrinkles or facial lines. Dynamic wrinkles result from muscle movements, like those occurring when you smile, laugh, or squint.  Common examples of dynamic wrinkles include crow’s feet around the eyes and lines on the forehead.  Neuromodulators such as Botox temporarily relax muscle activity, resulting in improvement in dynamic wrinkles. Highly trained plastic surgeons Dr. Savannah Moon & Dr. Stephanie Scurci of Himmarshee Plastic Surgery offer Botox in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This treatment can make moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines look better in adults. You will still be you, just with rejuvenated skin

What is Botox?

Botox is a non-surgical procedure used to administer botulinum toxin, a neuromodulator that temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults – to help them look visibly smoother. Neuromodulators such as Botox are FDA-approved cosmetic treatments to temporarily relieve wrinkles.

It’s a quick treatment with minimal downtime. Neuromodulators typically start working 1-3 days following treatment with full results requiring about 2 weeks.  The longevity of the treatment varies from person to person, typically lasting about 3-4 months.

First Steps

What’s the first step?

The first step to getting Botox in Fort Lauderdale, FL is to schedule an in-person visit to Himmarshee Plastic Surgery for a consultation with either Dr. Savannah Moon or Dr. Stephanie Scurci. During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your medical history, aesthetic goals, concerns, and expectations for the procedure. We encourage full transparency of medical history and expectations so that we can arrive at the best possible treatment plan and avoid unnecessary risks.

Our team will evaluate your facial anatomy, skin condition, and the target areas of concern. At the end of the consultation, we aim to arrive at a mutually agreed upon treatment plan, after which, you can receive your injection immediately following your consultation, or if you’d prefer,  you can then schedule your Botox appointment for a convenient time.

What to Expect on the Day of Botox

On the day of your Botox appointment, we start with facial cleansing. Next, your provider will provide you with a cold compress or topical anesthetic to make you more comfortable during the short procedure.

Your plastic surgeon will then begin to inject very low doses of the toxin using an ultra-fine needle directly into the target areas.

A typical Botox treatment takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete from start to finish but can vary from patient to patient. You will then be provided post-treatment care instructions.

Botox Recovery

Given the non-invasive nature of Botox, recovery is usually quick. There might be some redness, swelling, or slight bruising at the injection sites and they should usually subside within a few hours to a few days. We recommend you refrain from major physical activity for 24-48 hours so that the toxin can settle in place. It is also recommended to avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas.

Results from Botox injections gradually become apparent over the following days, with the full effect typically visible within one to two weeks. Remember to follow any post-treatment care instructions to ensure complete recovery and optimal outcome.
